Weber Review

Family Night tonight was great fun! Thank you for supporting the band and color guard by attending! Thank you also to the parents who have volunteered to help with our many needs this year. Many more are needed, so don’t forget to click the button below to sign up to help at the WFMBI.

Tomorrow evening is the Weber Review at Weber State University. The students will leave after school. RHS’s performance time is 7:15pm. The students will load buses and return to the school soon after performing.

This first competition can be a little tricky to remember all the gear a student will need for the entire evening:

instrument and gear black socks for band members compression shorts for band members to wear under uniform (such as UnderArmour) black t-shirt to wear under uniform (Unsquared t-shirts not quite ready) black marching band shoes compression beanie hat (for band members with longer hair) or other method of keeping hair up and under the shako black gloves for all band members except percussionists back brace for percussionists color guard specific needs water, meal(s) and snacks for the day (most band/color guard members pack a sack lunch and a snack to take along and eat on the bus)

Family Night

Plan on attending family night on Monday, September 19. The band and color guard will perform in uniform. Boosters will have concessions if you would like to eat dinner. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, Polish sausage, chips, soda, water and candy. Please bring cash if you want to buy something to eat. Prices are reasonable – this is not a fundraiser, just a fun night to get together and be impressed by our kids. The grill will be going by about 5:30pm, and the band should appear close to 6:30pm. Hope to see you there!

Marching Band Yard Sale

For all those parents and students interested, we have a date scheduled for a yard sale to help raise money for marching band.  Interested students are invited to bring items to sell. You will need to set up your own display, and will need to mark your items clearly with your name and the price. There will be a central cashier to handle all the money. Money earned will be deposited directly in to the student’s school account to be credited toward marching band fees.

The sale will be held Saturday, September 24th from 7:00 a.m. until noon in the front parking lot of Riverton High School where we have held it in previous years.  We have received permission from the administration to hold the yard sale at the school, and Mr. Faires has agreed to the yard sale as well, even with the competition at Payson that afternoon.  We should be finished with the sale in time for students to leave on the bus, but parents may need to finish up if students have to leave earlier. Sharon Jessee will be advertising and organizing the sale.  Please contact her immediately if you plan to participate since we only have about two weeks to get ready. Also, if any of you have tents or awnings for shade, let her know.  If any of you have suggestions on making this yard sale a success, she would love to hear them!  In the past, the band yard sale has been a great fund raiser for many of the students, and we are hopeful it will be again.
