Marching Band Yard Sale

For all those parents and students interested, we have a date scheduled for a yard sale to help raise money for marching band.  Interested students are invited to bring items to sell. You will need to set up your own display, and will need to mark your items clearly with your name and the price. There will be a central cashier to handle all the money. Money earned will be deposited directly in to the student’s school account to be credited toward marching band fees.

The sale will be held Saturday, September 24th from 7:00 a.m. until noon in the front parking lot of Riverton High School where we have held it in previous years.  We have received permission from the administration to hold the yard sale at the school, and Mr. Faires has agreed to the yard sale as well, even with the competition at Payson that afternoon.  We should be finished with the sale in time for students to leave on the bus, but parents may need to finish up if students have to leave earlier. Sharon Jessee will be advertising and organizing the sale.  Please contact her immediately if you plan to participate since we only have about two weeks to get ready. Also, if any of you have tents or awnings for shade, let her know.  If any of you have suggestions on making this yard sale a success, she would love to hear them!  In the past, the band yard sale has been a great fund raiser for many of the students, and we are hopeful it will be again. Wasatch Front MB Invitational Sponsorships

We are now collecting sponsorships to be specifically connected with the Wasatch Front Marching Band Invitational.  We have asked that every family have the goal of at least one sponsorship.  Sponsors can be any company, business, favorite store, dentist or anyone willing to donate.  All sponsors will receive a tax deductible receipt for donating to a tax-exempt organization.

There are various levels of sponsorship depending on the size of the desired ad.  Most companies have funds for this type of sponsorship.  These ads will be viewed by hundreds of spectators from all over Utah.  Those who purchase a banner ad will have their ad displayed for the entire year.  We really need a full commitment from all band families.  Be creative.  Set a goal of several sponsors if able.

The process is simple.  Download and print the two attached documents and take them to the potential donor.  Students are encouraged to wear their band shirt when soliciting sponsorships.  This is a wonderful event and has the potential to provide good advertising for sponsors of Riverton Band.  Please spread the word.

Please return all sponsor forms by September 12.

Thank you!

UPDATE: Patty Hales address was listed incorrectly on the sponsorship form. That has now been corrected. All sponsorship information and questions should be directed to her at zpattyjhz@gmail.com. WFMBI Sponsorship Form, revised (33) RHS WFMBI Sponsorship Letter 2011 (65)

Calendar Update

The Band Calendar has been updated to reflect the revised rehearsal schedule.

There are several dates that have been added or fixed, so please review.

Thank you!

Rehearsal Schedule

I have carefully reviewed the feelings and schedules of our marching band through our recent survey and additional surveys of students during rehearsals.  It is my understanding that a switch to Thursday nights was being arranged and planned before my arrival.  The vast majority of those who responded reported that a switch was desired due to additional conflicts on Wednesday.  We are making this move aware of two or three who have difficulty with Thursday evenings.  We will work case by case.

As a band, we will be better served rehearsing Thursday night rather than Wednesday.  Many of our competitions are Tuesday evening and Thursday will keep us from having two late nights in a row.  We have gone over the field scheduling arrangements and we will be able to use the main field following the JV games at home which normally end by 6 pm.  We will also have our practice field available in case there is some overlap.

I appreciate the feedback that was shared and look forward to our continued commitment to success.

The fall rehearsal schedule beginning immediately is: Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00pm Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Thank you, Mr. Faires

Fall MB Schedule Reminder and Update

The Fall Schedule for Marching Band begins this week.  The  schedule is: Monday/Thursday from 3-6 pm (practice field) and Wednesday from 6-9 pm (stadium).  There is a typo on the google calendar for this week.  The evening rehearsal for this week is Wednesday and not Thursday.  We will change the calendar as soon as passwords are transferred. Thank you!

End of Band Camp Performance

The Riverton Marching Band has worked really hard for the past two weeks, and invites parents and friends to come see what they have accomplished. They will put on a short show at 7:30pm Thursday on the baseball field at RHS. Bring something to sit on and come enjoy their progress.

There will be band camp on Friday, August 12.

Lagoon Day

There is no practice before Lagoon Day.

We will meet at Riverton High School at 9:15am, and the bus(es) will hit the road as close to 9:45 as possible. The park opens at 11:00am and closes at 10:00pm. Our Lagoon Day will include an all-you-can-eat BBQ dinner (Burgers, Dogs, Pasta Salad, Chips, Raspberry Jello “Surprise,” and soft drinks) at 5:30pm.

Days of ’47 Parade

Monday July 25, 2011

Call Time: 7am at RHS

The band will take buses to Salt Lake City for this parade. Students must be on time to RHS as the buses must depart by 7:30am and will not wait for late-comers. Students should all plan to ride the bus to the parade, but may be released to their parents immediately following the parade if the family so desire. This parade is 3 miles long and tends to be hotter than many of the others because it is near the end of July. So it is crucial that students drink immense amounts of water the day and night before the parade and that they eat a nutritious breakfast on the morning of the 25th. We will wear or summer parade uniform for the Days of ’47 Parade. We ALWAYS want to look and sound our best, but as an added incentive to do so… this parade is televised and receives a lot of local and regional media attention. So let’s make sure we put our best foot forward!
